Expanded replay possibly to be in place for 2013

by Aaron Giddens
In a very telling Q&A with Bill Shaikin of the L.A. Times, Bud Selig has just given hope to those that want expanded replay in MLB for 2013.

Here's the important section of the interview:

Shaikin: You have said you want to expand instant replay to include reviews of fair or foul balls and trapped balls. Will that expanded replay be in place for next season?

Selig: “I think we’ll have it for sure. They’re working on cameras in all the ballparks. We need the right cameras. Should we have them by next year? We’d better.”

So more replay could be in place for 2013. Still needs the approval of the Umpires Union. Something Selig failed to secure in time for the 2012 season reports D.J. Short of NBC Sports.

What do you think? Do you like the idea of more replay in baseball? Or do you like the human element? Let us know in the comment section.
