Keppinger injures foot, returns for next AB (UPDATED)

by Aaron Giddens

Jeff Keppinger, who has been the Rays most consistent hitter, has apparently left the game tonight after his spikes caught on the dirt while sliding in to second during the 5-6-3 double play to end the 2nd. He walked off gingerly carefully not putting any weight on it. Stay with us for updates.

[UPDATE, 8:27pm]: Keppinger stays in the game and bats in the fourth inning. He flies out to Jones in center. Still waiting on official word from the Rays on what happened in the training room. We'll let you know when we find out.

[UPDATE, 10:20pm]: Maddon says in his post game press conference that Kepp is fine, will be a little sore, but should be playing through it.
